The Atari 7800 Prosystem was Atari's last effort to restart the dead video game industry. The system's most significant role would be to video game collectors who cherish this system for its perfect translations of classic arcade games. Many see the 7800 as when Atari officially died, while they would try to re-enter the gaming market in 1987 with the XEGS, 1988 with the Lynx, and 1993 with the Jaguar, they have not been able to attain the same success they had in the 1970s and early 1980s.
