UNIX02/Install Nano And Defuglify The Fonts Under Debian

Classnotes | UNIX02 | RecentChanges | Preferences

Your default /etc/apt/sources.list file will be filled with entries you may not want. Edit it and restore it to a sensible defaults.

(Take a lok here if you want to cheat: http://einstein.physics.arizona.edu/~hart/class/sources.list)

Once you have done that, update your apt-get cache and install nano. Nano's package page is here on Debian's site: http://packages.debian.org/testing/editors/nano.html

After that, you will want to defuglify the fonts under Debian. The fonts already look very good because they are anti-aliased. But they could look better still with the mscorefonts we installed last week.

Luckily, these mscorefonts are actually a part of Debian: http://packages.debian.org/testing/graphics/msttcorefonts.html
